Kenda Newbury

Kenda Newbury, Artistic Director 

Known as “Ms. Kenda” in the dance world, Kenda was formerly trained by Mr. Kelly Brown and the Phoenix School of Ballet. Kenda has an MFA from The Boston Conservatory and a BFA from Ottawa University. She has been in the professional dance world for over 28 years, performing, choreographing and instructing dance throughout the United States, Europe and Australia. 

 

Ms. Newbury has trained and performed with some of the world’s most influential artists and companies such as Stanley Holden, Mdm. and Msr. Messerrer, Jurgen Schneider, Sean Curran, Ralph Lemon, Gus Giordano, Luigi and Frank Hatchet and Ballet West, Phoenix Ballet, Chicago Lyric Ballet, Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble and Impulse Dance Company to name a few.

 

Kenda is a former instructor of Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education, Ballet Arizona, Phoenix School of Ballet, Boston College and Boston University. Her former students are now performing with Alvin Ailey, Ballet West, Ballet Arizona, Boston Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Bill T. Jones, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Giordano Dance Company and on cruise ships and Broadway. She had the pleasure of working with Kenny Ortega, Doug Jacks and Judy Chubola as co-choreographer of the Super Bowl XXX  for Ms. Diana Ross / Radio City Productions.

Other large-scale productions include Pilgrimage 2000 with Christian Rock Band Jars of Clay, Margarita Bowl and the Insight dot Bowl games. Other choreographic credits include musicals, industrials, Winter Guard, dance teams, synchronized swimmers (teams and solos), gymnasts (floor and beam) as well as in the contemporary concert dance world. Currently, Kenda volunteers as the Arts Council of the North Valley (ACNV) Performing Art Committee, as Vice President of the Arizona Dance Coalition and is a full-time mommy with two young children, Shaeleigh and Colin.

Kenda is an avid equestrian, photographer and painter and coaches privately and is a freelance performer, choreographer, judge and instructor.
