Classically trained by Kelly Brown and the Phoenix School of Ballet, Ms. Newbury has been a professional dance instructor, performer and choreographer for over 27 years.  She has a Masters of Fine Arts degree from The Boston Conservatory and a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Ottawa University/Phoenix.

As a young dancer she received many awards and scholarships in dance including National Society of Arts and Letters, Gus Giordano Dance Center, Hubbard Street Dance, Scottsdale Community College Dance Department, Phoenix School of Ballet, Paul Taylor, and Idyllwild School of Performing Arts and was a National Honors student. At the age of 16 she received a life-time teaching certificate through the Maricopa County Community College District in Arizona.

She has had the honor of being coached or working with influential instructors including Kelly Brown, Luigi, Gus Giordano, Belle Lewitzsky, Marjorie Tallchief, Jurgen Schneider, Jelko Yurisha, Stanley Holden, Mdm. and Michael Messerrer, Audre Deckman Mendel, Eugine Mills, Gregory Hines, Tommy Tune and Alvin Ailey amongst others. Her career and training include dancing with Ballet West, Ballet de Americas, Phoenix Ballet, Chicago Lyric, Gus Giordano, Cardinal Cheer/Dance Squad, Princess Cruise Lines, Boston Dance Collective (Young audiences shows), Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble and Impulse Dance Company with Adrienne Hawkins. Kenda has worked with choreographers such as Sean Curran, Paul Koverman, Cheryl Krown, Glenda Folk, Keith Martin, Sarah Skaggs, Gregory Hines, Patricia Straus, Denise Pons, Doug Jacks, Judy Chubola, Ralph Lemon and Kenny Ortega, to name a few.

Many of her students are currently dancing in professional companies - Alvin Ailey Dance, Paul Taylor, Bill T. Jones, American Repertory Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Arizona and Boston Ballet. Her teaching career includes Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education, Boston College Theater Department and the BC Bands Program, Boston University Dance Department, Boston Conservatory (TA), Phoenix School of Ballet, Ballet Arizona, Paradise Valley Community College, Phoenix College and Scottsdale Community College as well as private studios in Massachusetts, Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, California and Connecticut.

Choreographically, Kenda has experience choreographing large-scale productions such as the Super Bowl XXX half time show with Ms. Diana Ross or Pilgrimage 2000 at Foxboro Stadium with the Christian-rock band, Jars of Clay to choreographing for community and professional theatre, synchronized swim teams, Winter Guards (WGI), equestrian events (reining and dressage), sacred dance festivals, conventions and industrials (NBC, Porsche, Bright Horizons, John Hancock Investments), collegiate dance teams and seniors dance squads.    

Ms. Newbury is a member of Arizona Dance Coalition, Alliance for Audience, Arts Council of the North Valley (ACNV), Showup.com and Boston Dance Alliance. She is a board member of the Arts Council of the North Valley and Arizona Dance Coalition, and is the Performing Art Chair for the ACNV since its' inception. 

Currently, Kenda coaches dancers privately, teaches part time in Arizona, performs throughout the U.S. and is in demand as a master instructor and guest choreographer. She is busy directing AZDance Group and her Movement E-Motion dance program.  She finds times to volunteer for community projects and benefits while raising a almost-four year old and a soon-to-be second child with her husband.
